News of new Skate Area

Great news for skateboarders in Stonehaven. Aberdeenshire councillors at a meeting on Tuesday 17 January 2006 backed proposals to allow Stonehaven Skatepark committee to use a site near the leisure centre. Young people have wanted a skate area for over ten years and the first children who fundraised many thousands of pounds are now young adults.

The new Skatepark opened in April 2010. This was the result of tremendous effort from local people and the support of Aberdeenshire Council. A grant of £33,000 from SportsScotland allowed the project to be completed in one phase.
